Watch: Fearful TikToker Apologizes After Viral Schoolboy Flirting Video Ignites Backlash
A TikToker has captured widespread attention and condemnation in Kenya after a video of her playfully flirting with schoolboys at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, went viral.
The clip, which surfaced on social media, shows the young woman engaging with the boys, who were in school uniforms, jokingly asking them to pick a boyfriend for her from among themselves.
While the boys appeared to enjoy the lighthearted interaction, the video quickly ignited a storm of furious reactions across the nation.
The footage, initially shared as innocuous content, drew sharp criticism from a significant number of Kenyans who accused the TikToker of harassing minors and exposing them to inappropriate behaviour.
Many pointed to her actions and attire as exploitative, with users like @KenyaJustice tweeting, “This is unacceptable! Flirting with schoolboys in uniforms? She’s putting them at risk #ProtectOurKids.”
@NairobiParent added, “What kind of example is this for our children? This lady needs to be held accountable #Shameful.”
The backlash intensified rapidly as users demanded action, with @CitizenWatchKE stating, “This is child endangerment. Where are the authorities? #JusticeForMinors.”In response to the escalating outrage, the TikToker promptly issued a public apology, seeking to clarify the context behind the controversial video.
She explained that the incident occurred spontaneously during a birthday picnic with her friends at Uhuru Park, where the schoolboys approached her and specifically requested a video.
“I’m here to make a public apology after posting a video with the school boys. I want to apologise to the school and the parents. I didn’t mean to bring out the picture the way it is. I didn’t go to their school; we went out on a birthday picnic. They walked up to me and asked me for a video. They were making jokes, and I gave back the energy,” she stated.
She emphasized that her words were not meant seriously, stating, “I didn’t mean what I said in that video. I didn’t mean my words. Many people have misjudged everything.”
Addressing criticisms about her dress code, which many deemed inappropriate given the presence of minors, she clarified, “Many people argue that I was misusing the kids with my dress code. I didn’t dress like that, knowing they were there. It was a girls’ picnic.”
She pleaded for forgiveness, assuring Kenyans it was a singular, unintentional mistake. “I am sorry, and it won’t happen again. It was my first time and last. Please forgive me,” she added.
