Tiwa Savage Reveals Her Dream Man
Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has given fans a rare glimpse into her thoughts on love, revealing the kind of partner she desires and why she’s struggled to find him.
In a recent viral video circulating on social media, Savage candidly stated her admiration for British-Nigerian rapper Skepta, whose real name is Joseph Junior Adenuga. “I want a guy like Skepta, but I keep getting funny-looking men,” she joked, drawing laughter and sparking conversation online.
The award-winning singer, who has remained single since her 2018 divorce from music executive Tunji Balogun (also known as Teebillz), has largely kept her romantic life private. Likewise, Skepta has not been linked to any confirmed public relationship since rumors of a past fling with supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Earlier this year, Savage stirred reactions when she spoke about her views on Nigerian men. While speaking during an interview, she praised them for their confidence and generosity, but criticized what she described as a lack of genuine romantic gestures.
“Nigerian men have swag and they know how to spend, but they’re not romantic,” she said. “I’m not looking for someone who just splashes cash, I want something deeper.”The singer also revisited the emotional challenges she faced during her separation from Teebillz. In a December 2024 interview, she revealed that the public announcement of their breakup came at a time when she was battling postpartum depression.
“He announced the separation online. I didn’t end the relationship, but I was the one being blamed,” she said. “Our son was just a few months old, and I was still adjusting physically and emotionally. Not many people checked on me everyone went to support him.”
Savage’s reflections have struck a chord with fans, many of whom have praised her openness and vulnerability. As she continues to speak out, the singer is once again positioning herself not just as a powerhouse vocalist, but as a voice for women navigating love, loss, and healing.
